Frequently asked questions
Q: WHERE CAN I BUY POWERFLOW EXHAUSTS?
A: From any approved Powerflow build centre (see list under dealers). Unfortunately we cannot mail order an exhaust to you, as it must be fabricated on the vehicle. This is also the reason for which pricing has to be discussed with a dealer and not the head office.
Q: WHO ARE POWERFLOW EXHAUSTS?
A: Founded in 1973 as a small company specialising in one-off, built-on-the–vehicle stainless steel performance systems for cars and motorcycles, Powerflow Exhausts South Africa now exports products from its Durban based manufacturing plant to the UK, Australia, USA, Germany, Holland, New Zealand and neighbouring African countries.
Powerflow Exhausts (UK) Ltd is the company that has the exclusive rights to import and distribute Powerflow custom-fit products throughout the EEC.
Introduced into the UK 10 years ago, Powerflow has over 70 approved dealers (build centres) servicing most of the country.
Q: WHO BUYS POWERFLOW EXHAUSTS?
A: A wide range of car owners whose needs include the following:
• Customised cars requiring special systems to suit body kits or vehicle image
• Unusual/low volume cars for which there are no "off-the-shelf" sports systems/back boxes available
• Imported vehicles – no systems available
• Low cost alternative to original parts
• Purpose built performance exhausts
• Kit Cars
• Classic/discontinued models for which there are no longer systems available
• Engine transplants/upgrades – hybrid system required
• JUST WANTING TO LOOK AND SOUND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
Q: WHY STAINLESS STEEL?
A: Because custom fitting an exhaust can be a time-consuming and fairly costly exercise, we want to be sure that our customers enjoy their Powerflow system for as long as they choose to keep the vehicle they had it fitted to. Therefore all systems are fabricated in stainless steel to ensure that they will outlast the average vehicle.
Q: WHY CAN’T YOU QUOTE DIRECTLY?
A: Because Powerflow is a custom-fit exhaust, a price can only be arrived at once the fitting centre (approved dealer) knows exactly what you want and how long the work will take. As pricing depends on these and other variables known only to the dealer, they are the only ones in a position to give you an accurate price.
Q: ARE CUSTOM-FIT EXHAUSTS EXPENSIVE?
A: No.
Not if you compare a Powerflow custom-fit system like for like with a ready made stainless steel system. Obviously if you want a complex arrangement done (for example twin twins on a vehicle fitted with a single outlet as standard) the sheer volume of extra materials used will affect the pricing. On a twin twin you are in effect fitting two exhaust systems and must expect to pay accordingly but as Powerflow Exhausts components are made in South Africa (where stainless steel is abundant and relatively cheap) we are able to provide a quality product at a surprisingly affordable price.
